Cite Them Right is just a really useful and important tool for our students to help them with their referencing. It's so important for them to understand how to reference their sources correctly so they don't fall foul of things like plagiarism.
We find the Cite Them Right website a really simple tool to use to help them get information correct. It gives really clear examples of how to reference correctly in all the different referencing styles that we use here.
By giving very clear examples to students, it helps them understand how to construct their references correctly.
It's particularly helpful in terms of making sure students don't fall foul of plagiarism and ensures they meet all the criteria required of them when they complete their assignments.
So, it provides a really good solution to that problem for all of our students.
Cite Them Right is just a really clear, straightforward resource for students to use.
It gives very clear guidance for all the different types of resources they might use in their work and sets out very clearly exactly what they need to consider when doing their referencing.
And I think, in that sense, it's a really simple and straightforward resource that everyone should be encouraging their students to use.
We really encourage students during our library induction, right at the start of the academic year when new students begin.
As part of our library induction program, we make sure that all students are fully aware of Cite Them Right: How to use it, how it can be helpful for them, and where to go if they need any support using the resource for their work.
We do a lot of promotional work around Cite Them Right to make sure they're aware that the resource is available to them.
We also work closely with academic tutors who support students in the academic writing process, and they also ensure they promote it during their sessions covering all aspects of academic writing.
A lot of the feedback we get from students, particularly when it comes to referencing, is that they can feel quite anxious about making sure they reference their sources correctly, put the punctuation in the right place, and get all those little details right, which they feel are really important.
So, we find that Cite Them Right helps give them that support and ensures they know where to go to get the correct information about how to reference.
It makes them feel a lot less anxious about the whole process of referencing correctly and making sure their work meets all of the requirements.
I would describe Cite Them Right as clear, comprehensive, and calming.
I think it's very clear in terms of how it sets out how to do referencing.
I feel it's very comprehensive in terms of the range of resources it covers.
And calming, because it really helps reassure students and addresses their anxieties about referencing.
